Voting Won’t Change a Thing – The Big Lie!
Many of us are told that “Voting won’t change a thing” and “if voting would change anything they would make it illegal.” This attitude creates apathy among would be voters and discourages them from exercising their fundamental right.
It is true that a vote in-itself does not guarantee change; changes are made by the elected candidate. Nonetheless, the voter can hold a candidate accountable with the power of their vote.
The right to a vote is our inheritance, bequeathed to us by those that fought for this privilege, often at a great cost.
One person, one vote is the single authoritative threat to those who benefit from the status-quo.
The act of marking an X on a ballot simple, but investing the time not vote for a candidate and not a brand, is not so simple. After you made an effort to vote intelligently, then the real work begins, holding the candidate accountability on their campaign promises.
