A surgery last month at the Montreal Children’s Hospital is being hailed as a miracle.

A six-centimeter tumour was removed from a baby’s brain – a tricky operation at the best of times, even more so when the patient is premature baby less than a week old.

Jolan Lemieux was born via C-section a month before his Sept. 22 due date, with a six-centimeter tumour already apparent on his brain.

According to the surgeon operations similar to this one are never easy.

“The brain is never ready to face surgery, but the brain of a premature child is very fragile,” said Dr. Farmer, “These tumours, they cause us some shivers.”

The six-hour operation was a success.
