Delay in deciding future of the RVH could cost the MUHC millions

The inter-ministerial committee assigned to decide on the future of the Royal Victoria Hospital suspended its work this fall, to allow the time for a feasibility study be conducted to determine whether the facility should be integrated to McGill University. A project valued at $ 800 million.
Since the decision to determine the future of the hospital is prolonged, the MUHC will be required to pay the extra costs to heat the Royal Victoria and ensure its preservation. “We’re talking of at least two more years, said Mr. Fahey. We need to find a way to finance the maintenance costs.“
The maintenance of the Royal Victoria  hospital costs the MUHC 5 million annually.
