Oh that smell !

The facilities are ultra-modern, the staff is recognized for their cutting edge expertise, but since its opening, the new McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) is dealing with a nauseating problem, regurgitating sewers.
Shortly after the inauguration last summer of the new MUHC facility,
Adjustments were done on six drainage pipe segments in order to optimize the flow evacuation, resulting in a decrease in the  number of incidents  by 75% in the last two months.
The sewer backup problems have occurred in 10 areas of the campus and according to the MUHC no flooding was reported last week.
Manuel Fernandes the  Occupational Health and Safety  VP for the MUHC CSN employees union, requested a CSST intervention, “Based on the information and test results provided by the MUHC, the CSST concluded that the water quality and the work environments are safe to use”.
The MUHC is a LEED certified building. It was equipped with ecological toilets with low water flow and consumes overall 30% less water than a standard hospital.
