Employés pas obligés d’appeler l’employeur sur heures de congé sauf force majeure- Employees not obliged to call employer on off work hours except force majeure

Nous avons été informés que vendredi un mémo a été distribué aux employés qui passent de 2155 rue Guy à 8300 Décarie, leur demandant d’appeler le CUSM ce dimanche soir après 19h00.

Nous tenons à souligner que les employés ne sont pas obligés d’appeler l’employeur sur leurs heures de congé. L’exception à la règle serait en cas de force majeure. Le déménagement était pré-planifié et ne répond donc pas à la définition d’une force majeure.

Nous avons également été informés que lorsqu’un employé appelle certains services malades, il faut que l’employé appelle un téléavertisseur et attend un rappel.

Dès que l’appelant informe l’employeur de son absence, l’employé a respecté son obligation et n’est pas tenu d’attendre par téléphone pour un rappel.

Veuillez veiller à ce qu’un numéro de contact où un employé puisse faire un appel pour aviser l employeur de son absence soit fourni.

Une lettre a été envoyée au directeur des Ressources humaines pour leur demander de s’assurer que tous les services fournissent un numéro de téléphone approprié à leurs employés respectifs.

We were informed Friday afternoon that a memo was distributed to the employees moving from 2155 Guy Street to 8300 Boulevard Décarie, asking them to call the MUHC this Sunday evening after 19h00.

Employees are not obliged to call the employer on their off work hours. The exception to the rule would be a ‘force majeure’. The move to Décarie was preplanned therefore does not meet the definition of a force major

We were also informed that when employees call sick, certain departments require the employee to call a pager and wait for a call back.

The employees obligation is to notify the employer of their absence. Once a call is placed, the employee has respected their obligation and are not required to wait by the phone for a call back.

The department is required to provide a contact number to the employee, where the employee can make their one call to notify the department of their absence.

A letter has been submitted to the Director of the Department of Human Resources requesting they ensure that all the departments provide an appropriate phone number  to their respective employees.

2 :  an event or effect that cannot be reasonably anticipated or controlled.
