Fertility clinic has new home in space previously used by the CHUM

After 20 years at the Royal Victoria Hospital, the world renounded McGill University Health Centre’s Reproduction Centre now occupies a space that is twice as large.
The facility located at Place Dupuis includes 12 consultation rooms, five exam and ultrasound rooms and an embryology laboratory. A team of six doctors specializing in fertility sees between 100 and 250 patients per day for different treatments.
In November 2015, the Quebec government put an end to the free in vitro program and replaced it with a tax credit system for low-income families.
As a result the number of in vitro fertilization cases has dropped significantly since the law came into effect. Over the past few years, it has been 2,500 per year, this year it will drop to 800.

“The tax credit is insufficient and Quebec needs to reinstate the vitro program to allow the same opportunity for all Quebecers regardless of their income.”  Manuel Fernandes Interim President MUHCEU-CSN.
