Quebec Health Minister Barrette met with the three unions representing McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) employees in hopes of both reassuring them and listening to them.
The meetings came days after half of the MUHC board of directors resigned, saying they could not work with the health minister.
Union representatives met Barrette at his downtown office to discuss key issues, including a major increase in employees on sick leave due to burnout and stress.
The meeting originally scheduled for 30 minutes lasted almost two hours. During the meeting the three unions, APTS, MUHCEU and the SPSICR-CUSM requested seats on the MUHC Board of Directors.
The Health Minister has the power to appoint board members under the regulations set out by Bill 10.
