Health Minister Barrette orders hospital to maintain regular personnel levels during winter school break

In an attempt to avoid overcrowding emergency rooms during Flu season which is expected to peak in early February and last for about 4 weeks, Health Minister Gaétan Barrette orders hospitals to maintain the regular amount of personnel throughout the winter school break.
During holidays, the summer vacation period and winter school break, hospitals as a cost-saving measure often lower staff levels.
There was no mention of extra financing for hospitals, or support for families with school children whose parents will have to remain at work.
