During the last election campaign, Quebec Premier Francois Legault promised to cap hospital parking rates at $10 per day. Currently at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) the daily parking rate is $24.

When the MUHC applies the reduced rate, Manuel Fernandes, former union president wants the discount of nearly 58 per cent to also apply to staff parking rates.

“The Glen campus neighbor, the Shriner’s hospital, which was built outside the PPP model, offers free parking to its staff,” he said.

During a meeting with senior management in early 2017, the union recommended the use of advertising to offset the operation costs.
