Cochlear implant surgery is finally coming to Montreal and the MUHC will be part of this program

Dr. Pierre Gfeller, head of the McGill University Health Centre, announced at Monday’s public board meeting that there will be a cochlear implant program in Montreal and that the MUHC will be part of the program.
The program will be shared between the MUHC and its French-language counterpart the Centre
What is a cochlear implant?
A cochlear implant is a small electronic device that can help to provide a sense of sound to a person who is profoundly deaf or severely hard-of-hearing. The implant consists of an external portion that sits behind the ear and a second portion that is surgically placed under the skin.
