The law suite stems from a rigged bid to build the McGill University Health Centre Glen superhospital, which involved a $22.5 million bribe.
Last month Duhaime pleaded guilty to one count of breach of trust, in what is described as the biggest fraud in Canadian history. SNC-Lavalin had already filed a lawsuit seeking compensation from the other individuals connected to the project.
Per The Montreal Gazette, “Duhaime resulted in (SNC-Lavalin) being linked in the public eye with individuals who have been accused or convicted of criminal offences,” the lawsuit says, “thereby tarnishing the excellent reputation enjoyed by (the company) in Quebec and throughout the world.”
