The Quebec Order of Dentists has found Dr. Nareg Apelian guilty of sexual misconduct involving a 21-year-old former patient.
In a written judgment, the disciplinary council said it concluded that on November 2016 Dr. Apelian had repeatedly touched the patient’s breasts during treatment.
As per CBC, the following day, the woman went to the Montreal General Hospital, where DNA swabs were taken from her skin. The police were called and later that week, she made a complaint to the Quebec Order of Dentists.
In an email, to CBC, Apelian states he is not guilty and plans on appealing decision which could suspend him from practicing dentistry for at least five years.
Apelian supervised McGill dentistry students and was the faculty’s program lead for continuing studies.
