Quebec Superior Court has refused to grant an emergency injunction to keep the gynecology clinic open at Lachine Hospital.
Justice Michèle Monast said she didn’t believe the change was sufficient to support an injunction, judging the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) has made reasonable efforts to accommodate patients.
According to the MUHC News, both the MUHC and the CIUSSS-de-l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal (ODIM) acknowledge and welcome the decision by Justice Michèle Monast, from Quebec’s Superior Court.
“We believe that the closure of the clinic was a necessary step to consolidate the mission of the hospital, as specified in its clinical plan. The court’s decision will therefore greatly facilitate the advancement of this process,” says Dr. Ewa Sidorowicz, Director of Professional Services at the MUHC.
A group of doctors and patients filed the injunction, arguing the McGill University Health Centre had not provided sufficient notice regarding the closure of the clinic.
