Cristina Toca, daughter of McGill University Health Centre transport attendant Eladio Toca, will be performing Sunday night in the quarterfinals of the French language television network, TVA show La Voix. The French language version of the television singing contest, The Voice.

The first proud moment for Eladio Toca came when he first held his newborn baby girl and realized she was as beautiful as her mother. Another great moment of pride for Eladio and his family is when Cristina, qualified for the TV show La Voix.

While humming a tune to herself or singing for friends, Cristine the 25-year-old Concordia University student is happiest when she’s singing. And glad was she as she won the last available spot in the quarterfinals with her interpretation of Zayn’s song Pillowtalk, which received a standing ovation from the four coaches. (Listen to Cristine’s interpretation below)

Cristine told the Journal Métro, “I did not know what to expect for the Battle Songs, because I was against two really talented girls. We had three voices and three different styles, but I was much more confident this time. I sang a song that exploited my R & B side more.”

Sunday night, Cristine along with her coach Quebec singer-songwriter Marc Dupré, will be performing to advance to the next round and continue her dream. You may want to support Eladio’s daughter because he is part of the MUHC community, but the best reason to support Cristina is to listen to her sing.

La Voix airs on TVA (Chanel 4) Sunday, April 21st at 7 PM.
