Announced public transit fare hikes chew into health and social service employees meager pay increase

The STM along with the transit agency for the Greater Montreal (ARTM) have announced transit fare hikes which will chew into the health and socials service employees April 2019 salary adjustment.

Specific job titles, mostly in the clerical sector, received no salary adjustment for 2019, and a total pay increase of 5.25 per cent over a 5-year contract that ends next spring. Other job titles received small adjustments, for example, a PAB (Orderly) job title 3480, will see a change of 7 cents per hour, $21.80 to $21.87.

As of July 1, public transit fares will increase everywhere. The cost of a single Montreal Metro fare will increase by 7.7 per cent from $3.25 to $3.50. A regular monthly pass will cost $86.50, instead of $85.
