While home-based medicine is often considered a remnant of the past, a private company (514-DOCTEUR) that offers this service is so popular that it recruits doctors promising to see fewer patients than in the public system, but with the same income.
“Fewer patients, fewer follow-ups, same income”: the advertising even promises a private driver to the doctor.
Since 1991, the company has offered a rare home medicine service in the Montreal area. Despite the high cost of a medical visit ($ 275, no time limit), the company is so popular that it wants to recruit one or two other doctors. Currently, three doctors are working on it.
