While the risk of catching coronavirus from using your phone is low. Researchers allege the killer virus can survive on the flat surface of a phone for almost a week unless the phone is correctly disinfected, according to U.K. Metro.
“You could be washing your hands, but if you start touching your smartphone screen and then touch your face that is a potential route of infection,” stated Professor William Keevil, from the University of Southampton in the UK.
Professor Peter Hall from the University of Waterloo described smartphones as ‘petri dishes’ and recommends people clean their phones once at lunch and again at dinner time.
Apple suggests cleaning phone surfaces with a microfiber cloth and soapy water, but health experts say alcohol wipes are better to ward off a virus, stated the paper.
