Returning Public Health-care Workers Ordered to Self-Isolate Do Not Lose Sick or Personal Days

On March 12, the Quebec government ordered any public health-care worker who has returned to Quebec from any part of the world to self-isolate.

Announcing the province is on an emergency status which demands sacrifices, Premier Legault said, “Health-care workers have no choice and are ordered to self-quarantine. Public-sector workers who self-isolate will be paid.”

Therefore, public health-care workers returning to Quebec will not lose personal or sick bank days.

Part-time employees are paid for the hours they missed as a result of the government order for public health-care workers to self-isolate.

With the government’s recent announcement ensuring that workers who are required to self-isolate will be paid up to $573.00 per week, staff on the recall list should also receive any lost wages.

If public health-care employers remove sick or personal days or not pay part-time staff, employees should contact their local union office.

The premier also asking individuals who have returned to Quebec or have flu symptoms to self-isolate for 14 days to slow the spread of the virus.

The premier also mentioned that a financial package for the private sector will be announced shortly.
