The old Royal Victoria hospital which had been converted into a winter shelter to house the city homeless population and their pets, will now be converted into a coronavirus isolation centre.
Individuals currently staying at the site will be relocated, as the heritage location will house, in individual rooms, any homeless person who tests positive for COVID-19 or exhibits symptoms.
The former MUHC hospital facility will start with 50 individual rooms and increase the number of rooms according to demand.
Individuals will be treated following public health coronavirus recommendations, announced health authorities.
