Saturday morning in a news release, the Quebec Minister of Health and Social Services Danielle McCann announced the creation of a confidential new email address for healthcare providers to voice in confidence what happens on the ground during the COVID-19 crisis.
The new email address, onvousecoute@msss.gouv.qc.ca, according to the health minister, provides health-care workers with a venue to present problems or situations that they experience on a daily basis.
McCann acknowledged the existence of an omerta code in the healthcare sector, stopping health workers from speaking to the media and hopes the new process will allow staff to come forward. She affirmed that the process will remain confidential.
“I invite them not to hesitate to inform us of their experiences, unfair situations or good practices, so that we can, together, respond more effectively to the needs of Quebecers.”
