The Quebec government is planning to hire 10,000 CHSLD patient attendants to work with seniors in the province’s long-term care homes.

Premier Legault has established the Health Care Facility Patient Service Support program as a measure to make qualified workers rapidly available.

The Skills Training Certificate, is intended to rapidly train CHSLD orderlies who will be able to lend a helping hand in the health network.

People currently working in a health care institution will be invited to continue working during the summer and apply for admission to the training set to begin in the fall.

The new training program includes

  • Combination of learning in the classroom and learning in the workplace, thus giving you experience in the field
  • Short program with 375 hours of full-time training, 5 days a week, spread over 12 weeks
  • Scholarship equivalent to $760 a week during your training
  • Full-time job available in a CHSLD as soon as you obtain your Skills Training Certificate (STC), with an annual income of $49 000.

Application for admission

Several training sessions will be offered over the next several months in order to ensure uninterrupted services in the health care and social services network.

The first training sessions will start June 15 and are geared to individuals who are not currently working in a health care institution or in social services.

People currently working in a health care institution will be invited to continue working during the summer and apply for admission to the training set to begin in the fall. This way, the individuals trained during the summer can take over for them.

Consult the list of vocational training centres offering the training program to become a CHSLD orderly.

Please fill out this form if you are interested in enrolling in this program. A representative will communicate with you shortly to complete your application for admission.

If you want to make a difference in the lives of people living in the province’s CHSLDs, you can enroll in the program here.
