The Quebec government kept its election promise, with the announcement that as of June 20, user parking rates across the province in all hospitals, public health centres and CLSCs will be reduced.

Health Minister Danielle McCann on Monday announced the following parking reductions.

  • Parking for users is free for the first two hours.
  • After the first two free hours, users will pay a maximum daily rate of $7 to $10 depending on the facility’s location.
  • Patients who receive regular care such as chemotherapy will pay a special rate.
  • Two family members of each CHLSD resident will be granted free parking.

McCann made no mention of a reduced parking rate for employees. Previously the Quebec government had stated the reduced rate would not apply to staff.
