As a Gesture of Thanks MUHC Union Suspends Members Dues for Two Pay Periods
The union wrote on its Facebook page that the decision is a gesture of thanks towards its members.
The Union for Nursing and Cardio-Respiratory Professionals of the McGill University Health Centre (SPSICR-CUSM) suspended its member’s union dues for two pay periods in May.
The union explained in its Facebook post, that the decision is a gesture of thanks towards its members, “En guise de remerciement, nous avions annoncé que le syndicat SPSICR-CUSM avait décidé de suspendre les cotisations syndicales pour deux périodes de paie.”
The local MUHC union represents well over 3,000 MUHC, Nurse, Auxiliary Nurses and Cardio-Respiratory professionals. The local union is affiliated with the Fédération Interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec (FIQ), which represents 76,000 members across Quebec.
The organization also announced in the same Facebook post, that this year, more than ever, the annual May festival with its members is essential, “but the pandemic crisis does not allow us to meet.”
“Cette année, plus que jamais, nous aurions toutes besoin de cette pause, de cette féte, mais la crise de la pandemie ne nous permet pas de nous réunir,” wrote the SPSICR-CUSM on Facebook.
Which might indicate that one of the organization’s goal is to pass on to its membership any savings from the ‘cancelled’ May festival.
*As of June 04, 2020 it appears the SPSICR-CUSM Facebook page has been converted into a private members page.
