The Royal Canadian Mint announced Monday that a Recognition Medal dedicated to Canadian essential workers is now on sale on its website at www.mint.ca, as well as in some Post offices, TD Canada Trust and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).

The 2020 Medal features two designs, which the mint explained as a heart joined to a maple leaf expressing the affectation of Canadians for healthcare, security and essential services personnel.

The other side of the medal displays a heart in the center of the maple leaf, signifying the country’s gratitude to these workers.

The medal made of nickel-plated steel has a magnet and costs $9.95.

All proceeds will be donated to the Breakfast Club of Canada’s emergency funding in support of children and families who are facing food insecurity now and in the months to come, due to the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
