Montreal Region Schools Lead the Province in Confirmed Covid-19 Cases

Forty five of Quebec’s 3100 schools have at least one case of COVID-19.

3,100 Quebec schools have now been open for more than a week, and according to government figures, 46 of them have at least one case of COVID-19.

Originally, the government stated 47 schools were affected by the virus, but later revised the number to 46, preschool, elementary, secondary and general adult education establishments as well as vocational training centers that have reported at least one case attributable to COVID-19 in students or staff members.

Montreal is the most-affected region, with a total of 14 schools reporting at least one Covid-19 case, followed by Montérégie with eight and Laval with six.

The list, which was released online Friday, is compiled with data retrieved on September 3, 2020, at 3 p.m. from the Ministry of Education of Quebec and includes the dates that each positive case was confirmed.
