The Federation of Early Childhood Workers of Quebec (FIPEQ-CSQ) union representing approximately 10,000 Quebec home daycare workers’ announced that an agreement-in-principle has been reached with the province.

The home daycare workers were seeking $16.75 per hour, an hourly increase of approximately $4.33. The FIPEQ-CSQ had concluded its members made the equivalent of $12.42 per hour.

The tentative agreement brings to an end the unlimited general strike that began on Sept. 21, after contract negotiations stalled.

Details of the deal are to be announced on September 28, 2020, via the FIPEQ-CSQ Facebook page at 7:30 p.m. Workers will vote on the tentative agreement later in the week.
