In an internal document from the European Commission, Canada is excluded from its list of countries whose citizens are permitted to visit the European bloc.
“… As a result of these discussions, the list of third countries set out in Annex I should be amended. In particular, Canada, Georgia and Tunisia should be deleted from the list while Singapore should be added. It should also be clarified that, subject to confirmation of reciprocity, travel should be possible with the Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR,” European Union Presidency.
The decision to delete Canada, Tunisia and Georgia from the list is due to an increase in virus infections in those countries, according to the press release.
The EU document removes Canada, Georgia and Tunisia from the list while recommending Singapore should be added if Chinese authorities also allow in EU visitors.
The approved list is only a recommendation, each individual European Union member country as the autonomy to decided on the specific constraints to apply.
