A Horse Tale rescue farm, a non-profit organization in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec, originally developed its program for community groups with special needs to communicate with animals. The organization has now extended the service to include health employees.
The equine rescue farm gives health-care workers a therapeutic place to escape from the COVID-19 pandemic front lines. Youth and family social worker Darlene Job, who visits the rescue farm, told CTV News, “When I’m here,… I enjoy every minute of it. I’m focused on what I can do for these awesome horses and what joy that brings me.”
“A horse is the projection of peoples’ dreams about themselves – strong, powerful, beautiful – and it has the capability of giving us escape from our mundane existence.”
Pam Brown, Australian poet.
“They’re giving so much of themselves to help us during the pandemic so it’s the least we can do…” said A Horse Tale rescue farm executive director Mike Grenier.
The rescue farm provides a shelter for abandoned or former working horses in the horse-and-buggy industry.
