Spouses Are Entitled to Take Annual Vacation at the Same Time

You and your spouse are entitled to take your annual vacations at the same time

If both you and your spouse work for the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), you are both entitled to take your annual vacations at the same time.

However, the vacation period shall be that of the spouse with less seniority and dose not conflict with the preference of other employees with more seniority.

The requests needs to be made when submitting your vacation choices.

21.08 Annual vacation for spouses (Local Agreement)
When spouses work in the same institution, they may take their annual vacation at the same time. However, their annual vacation period shall be that of the spouse with the least seniority, providing that this does not affect the preference of the other employees with more seniority.

MUHCEU CSN

21.05 (Local Agreement)
When spouses work in the same institution, and after so requesting at the time of signing up for vacation choices, they may take their vacation at the same time; however, their vacation period shall be that of the spouse with less seniority, providing that this does not affect the choice of other employees with more seniority.

11.13 Annual Vacation For Spouses (Local Agreement)
When spouses work in the same establishment, they may take their annual vacation at the same time after making a request to this effect at the registration period. However, their vacation period shall be that of the spouse having the least seniority, on the condition that this not affect the preference of other employees having more seniority.

Definition of Spouse according to the National Contract

• People who are married and live together;
• People who form a civil union and live together;
• People who are of the same or the opposite sex, and who live as a couple, and are the father and mother of the same child;
• People who are of the same or the opposite sex, and have been living as a couple for at least one year.
